Bahrain has a well developed education system at all levels from nursery schools to universities for school teachers and lecturers in higher education to teach. Teaching in Bahrain has become more open for foreign teachers as the country has invited more overseas teachers opening up employment laws. Bahrain is in the process of continued re-development of the education system in Bahrain and teachings in Bahrain evolves with experience and new ideas and  positions are available for qualified school teachers in public schools, advisors, state education, college and university level for teaching and non teaching roles .

Recently foreign person can sponsor themselves for a work and residency permit.

 

Teaching in Bahrain Opportunities

Public School: Teaching and training as a teacher or an advisor teacher in a public school in Bahrain advising and teaching local teachers and pupils from nursery to sixth form.

University: There are university campuses where you can obtain a lecturing or management post.

College: Post school age teaching vocational or academic subjects.

International Schools: Schools have opened to accommodate local and international students offering a range of curriculum’s from different countries from nursery to sixth form.

Language Schools: Teaching English or another language.

Teaching in Bahrain you can work for government who advertise education jobs and teaching jobs for schools, colleges and universities.

 

Requirements for Teaching in Bahrain

Schools, universities and education organisations have their own separate requirements, although many of the same legal and desired requirements are the same including appropriate education qualifications for position.

Common requirements for teaching jobs and lecturing positions for teaching in Bahrain: Key: R = Legal requirement

  • Police clearance certificate (Enhanced Disclosure) from your home country dated with past 6 months. R
  • Certified and attested qualifications. R
  • Native English speaker applying for positions delivered in English. R
  • Degree in the subject you wish to teach. Possibly.
  • Qualified to teach that age range.
  • Certificate to teach English as a second language, or a degree in English if teaching English in a training centre, college or university.
  • Pass a medical, obtain a work and residency permit to stay and work. R
  • Contracts from 6 months to 3 years that can be renewable. R
  • Full time years of experience.

A few international schools will employ you without a teaching certificate and not your age range, although to obtain a teaching permit and residence you basically require what the government legally requires you to have for teaching in Bahrain.

Accommodation

Education employers from state and international schools, universities and other organisations provide single or shared accommodation. Accommodation ranges in size and standards depending on your employer.  Good idea to ask where thee accommodation is and find out how to get to your work.  An allowance is payable from many employers if you wish to rent yourself, although this can be expensive.

Accommodation can be expensive to rent and contracts are usually for 12 months at least.

 

Salaries

Depends on your number of years of teaching experience and additional payments for people with a Masters or doctorate. Each employer has their own pay scales upwards of 8,000 per month plus accommodation and other.
